My Fake Baby
October 2, 2008
Tonight on BBC America there is a new documentary called My Fake Baby. The show is about grown women who is buying and caring for fake baby dolls. They dolls look so real it is disturbing.
According to MSNBC about My Fake Baby:
One woman in the BBC documentary married and in her 40s, said she wanted a real baby, but was too busy to commit to caring for a real one. A reborn doll satisfies her maternal instincts, she said, without all the carrying on and mess.
Reborns, she said, "never grow out of their clothes, never soil them. It's just fabulous. The only difference, of course, is these guys don't move."
Kids seem to love baby dolls and it is a good way to practice for a real child. However grown women treating them like a real child is a bit strange I think. It could be that they really wanted to have a child and never were able to or they are not ready to care for a real child yet. Maybe this could be the new trend for busy people who don’t have time for a real child?
